![]() Solarscope's H-Alpha filters can be fitted to telescopes as shown on this Tele Vue telescope. If you already have a small refractor you may prefer to add a Hydrogen Alpha filter to it. This is now possible with Solarscope's range of solar filters. The filter system comes in 2 parts: the front narrow band filter (below right) and the rear blocking filter (below left). The front filter contains an energy rejection filter (he first red coloured filter at the front of the system), which blocks out the dangerous ultraviolet and infra red radiation, and some of the visible spectrum. After that comes the etalon, which filters the light further, blocking all but the very narrow bandwidth (0.7Å) on the H alpha line. Finally, the rear blocking filter attenuates the brightness and ensures only the H alpha line is seen at the eyepiece. ![]() Solarscope Hydrogen Alpha filters were originally conceived to work with the Tele Vue range of telescopes, but this has now been developed further to allow their use with a wide variety of smaller refracting telescopes by the addition of custom made adaptor rings. Please contact us to discuss the suitability of your telescope.
These filters are available in 50mm, 60mm and now a staggering 70mm aperture, and not only that but each of them are available in a 'double stack' version which increases the contrast and reduces the bandpass even further to a startling 0.5Å!
